Together Harm Reduction Hawaii and SWOP Sacramento collaborated for the second year in a row to education and inform politicians, the community, and the medical professionals in the State Capitol. Hawaii has often been ahead of the curve. Headed by Tracy Ryan, Harm Reduction Hawaii has long been an advocate of decriminalization of prostitution and all sex work. Close to the workers voices, Tracy brings a voice of reason in the face of prohibitionism.

Hosted by Senator Taniguchi SWOP Sacramento was invited to educate those who were interested at the State Capitol, as well as presenting to the Grand Rounds Class at Tripler Army Hospital. Maybe Hawaii is ahead of the curve, the idea of keeping communities healthy  a natural fit with native Hawaiian ways of life, or maybe they just care a little bit more about their most marginalized. Either way we look to Hawaii to be one of the first states to achieve decriminalization.
